KIM GACEJA
Absence fills the space in Kim Gaceja’s paintings that express not just the passing of time, nor the things embodying the poetry of everyday life, equally, the aura essential to paint existence, but also acting perhaps as an invitation for discussion of an underlying social reality, on the economy of means, property, labor, of actions needed to lead life meaningful, to term the domestic and call it home.
Kim Gaceja studied at the Technological University of the Philippines, and counts as his main influences the artists Lucian Freud, Cornelia Parker, and Maggi Hambling, but also looks up to the works of Keb Cerda, John Marin, Ronson Culibrina, Elaine Navas, Raffy Napay, and Leslie de Chavez.
